Celebrating Our Graduates: Leading the Way in Advocacy and Change

We are thrilled to celebrate the graduation of three outstanding parents from the Central Ohio Parent Leadership Training Institute (COPLTI). These individuals have completed our intensive 20-week Parent Leadership Training program and taken their first steps as members of our newly formed Parent Advisory Committee (PAC). This milestone is a testament to their commitment to becoming powerful advocates for their children and communities.

The PAC, established in partnership with the Children’s Defense Fund-Ohio (CDF-Ohio), is designed to empower parents by connecting them with state policy advocates. This initiative aims to build capacity for parent leadership in Ohio, ensuring that those most impacted by social issues have a direct voice in shaping the policies that affect their lives. By leveraging the firsthand experiences of our parent leaders, the PAC will work strategically on policy priorities that matter most to Ohio’s families.

As members of the PAC, our graduates will play a vital role in this new endeavor, bringing their unique perspectives and dedication to the table. Under the leadership of Ugochi Akoi, the PAC will focus on elevating parent voices in policy discussions, whether through direct engagement with lawmakers, providing testimony, or organizing community events. This work is crucial in ensuring that policies are more effective and truly supportive of the families they are meant to serve.

Congratulations to our graduates on this remarkable achievement! We look forward to seeing the positive impact they will continue to make as they advocate for the well-being of children and families across Central Ohio.
