WHAT WE DO

Our 20-week class equips parents with civic engagement and advocacy skills, enabling them to lead community projects in Central Ohio.

EMPOWERING PARENTS

Our 20 Week Journey

Program Structure and Content

The 20-week program is meticulously structured to provide a blend of civic engagement, advocacy training, and leadership development. Each week, Parent Leaders engage in interactive workshops and sessions covering a wide range of topics essential for effective community leadership. These topics include understanding local government, developing public speaking skills, learning about educational policies, and mastering the art of advocacy. By the end of the program, Parent Leaders are well-versed in the intricacies of civic processes and equipped to influence policy decisions.

They possess a deep understanding of civic processes, enhanced communication skills, and the ability to mobilize others around common goals. The ripple effect of their leadership extends beyond their families, contributing to the creation of healthier, more engaged, and more equitable communities.

By the end of the 20 weeks, our Parent Leaders are not only equipped to tackle immediate challenges but are also prepared to drive long-term, sustainable change in their communities. Our graduates continue to inspire and lead, embodying the mission of COPLTI in every aspect of their lives.

Interactive Learning and Practical Experience

Our approach combines theoretical knowledge with practical experience. Throughout the program, parents participate in hands-on activities that allow them to apply what they have learned in real-world scenarios. This includes developing and implementing community projects, engaging in role-playing exercises, and attending local government meetings. These activities not only reinforce the curriculum but also build confidence and foster a sense of accomplishment.

Community Building and Networking

A key component of our program is fostering a supportive community among participants. The 20-week journey is designed to create strong bonds between parents, encouraging mutual support and collaboration. This network of empowered parents becomes a vital resource, providing ongoing encouragement and assistance even after the program concludes. Additionally, participants have the opportunity to connect with local leaders, policymakers, and community organizations, further expanding their influence and impact.

Outcomes and Impact

Graduates of the COPLTI program emerge as well-rounded leaders, ready to advocate for their children and community. Each member must complete a community project, applying their newly acquired skills to real-world challenges. Participants are also assigned a mentor from the community who provides guidance and support throughout their journey. This mentorship fosters personal and professional growth, ensuring that each graduate is well-prepared to drive meaningful change.
